VBS - Day Three
Wednesday was Day Three of VBS.
I got a couple of pictures of Will at Bible School. He enjoyed his corn dog and french fries at dinner, and he loved story time in the "Treehouse" (the Preschool classroom) with his friends.

Happy Harvest
Will was Pawpaw's helper in the garden today. They gathered the first veggies from the garden - three squash and two tomatoes. He had more fun with the water hose and watering can than anything else!

VBS - Day Two
Tonight was Day Two of VBS. The kids really started to catch on to the songs, phrases, and movements. The leaders tried to emphasize the phrase "No matter what - trust God!" Will came home singing the song, "You, you, you... you can trust God!" and saying the phrase "No matter what - trust God!" I was so proud of him! He adapted the phrase to his own life when we were getting ready for bed and he said, "No matter what - don't go to the potty!" :-)

VBS - Day One
Monday was Day One of Bermuda Hundred's Vacation Bible School. The theme this year is SKY: Everything is Possible with God. It's a fun program with scripture, science, learning, singing, and relationships.
The following pictures feature my group of four boys and one girl. Will had a great time in the Preschool "Treehouse," but I don't have any photos of him from the night. I got to witness some clapping and dancing with his little buddies at the end of the night as we all sang together. He learned a new song and was asking for "Awesome God" until he closed his eyes last night!

Father's Day 2012
Happy Father's Day to the wonderful fathers in our lives - Willard, Ross, and Mark! We LOVE you!!

We celebrated Father's Day with an easy supper and cupcakes at the Lundys. It certainly looks like Will didn't enjoy the cupcakes at all... :-)

Pool Time
We went to the pool this afternoon for the first time this season. Will did a great job in the kiddie pool - he was interested in floating on his back and trying to blow bubbles in the water. We look forward to going back very soon!
Will's love for music came out naturally this afternoon at the pool - he started alternating randomly between "Ring Around the Rosies" and CCR's "Down on the Corner." He's a kook, but he's our lovable, creative, entertaining kook.
Celebrations
There was a picnic on June 10 at church to celebrate the confirmands and graduates, and also to recognize Pastor Jan's six years at Bermuda Hundred. Pastor Jan has been asked to move to Roberts Memorial UMC in Alexandria, VA. We will dearly miss her at BHUMC, but we wish her all the best in the future.
Will had fun with Ms. Ditty in Sunday School (check out her cool play-doh elephant!!), then we had fun outside at the picnic.
Mom's birthday was June 13. She had to make a trip to Charlottesville that day to get her surgical staples removed. Despite the hours in the car, having the staples out gave her great energy. The staples were beginning to get uncomfortable, so she was glad to have them removed (finally). Will brought Meme some balloons as a surprise, and Gloria made a beautiful and yummy Fruit Pizza to celebrate!
Pepaw arrives on his and Memaw's anniversary - June 13! He brought flowers to Memaw, and they were so glad to be reunited. Will and Pepaw celebrate with an hour-long tambourine dance party!
Will had such a fun time with his cousin, Angelica ("Gelica") while she was here. She is spending some time in Tennessee with Memaw, Pepaw, and her dad, Chris.

CHHS held its graduation on June 15. Mark and I enjoyed this time to celebrate new graduates and the opportunity to see former students.
We were glad to be with Memaw for the first part of her birthday - June 16. We miss her a lot, but we are glad that she was able to get back home to her routine.

Update from UVa
Update about May 31 - June 2
Mom's progress at UVa is continuing. As you know, her ventilator was removed Wednesday. Her NG tube and feeding tube was also removed that day. She also sat up in a regular chair for a while, but dinner (beef broth and lime jello) was a bit nauseating. Everyone was so thrilled to have the ventilator out, and slowly she began to seem and feel a bit more like herself. Kathy, our right-hand nurse, also went back to Fredericksburg on Wednesday.
Thursday afternoon she was transferred to a step-down telemetry unit where she would be monitored closely. Since she was out of ICU, someone could stay in the room with her all night. I went home for an appointment, and Dad stayed the night there.
On Friday morning she was moved to a regular room, and she has been there since. Friday brought a little nausea but also removal of her central line and weaning of, then removal of oxygen. The only item that is still hooked up is a "superpack" on with nodes that monitor her condition and wirelessly transmit readings to the nurses' station. She took two walks with physical therapy on Friday, and they were very pleased with her physical level. All that walking must have worn her out because she was able to get solid rest last night. I stayed with her overnight, and I do believe she only woke up a few times.
Since Friday afternoon, she has had a couple bouts with nausea, and the nurses and doctors are trying to get her blood pressure regulated. The doctors said this morning that they are ready to release her once those things get under control. The last blood pressure reading they took was beginning to normalize, so things are looking up to head home in the next day or two!
Today we had some familiar faces as visitors at the hospital - Kathy and Jenny came from Fredericksburg and Ron and Phyllis Carpenter, neighbors of Mom and Dad, came to see them. These visits were good for everyone!
